References beginning with V eg V184719866 as in the record for birth Joseph Tongue 1847 can be obtained by photocopy from microfilms held in research library's in all major Aust. Libraries.

Copies of all BDM can be purchased from the appropriate Aust. Authority. The Victorian certificates can be purchased via the web too, for a much lesser charge than official copies. There is also a transcribing service which will obtain the NSW records for a slightly lesser charge than an official copy.
