Tonge Hall, Middleton : Email (received 2001) from Lynn O'Brien of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, who was born in Tonge Hall in 1957.

Hi,

I was thrilled to see your website.  I was born in Tonge Hall in 1957.  My
grandparents rented half of the house from my "Uncle", Albert Wolstencroft.

I don't know exactly how long they lived there but I think from about 1949
til my Grandmother, Amy Holden, moved out about three years ago.

I was born in the "front room" in which there were rumoured to be
"priceless" paintings and of course. ghosts, which I never saw

Through the years my children have done school projects on Tonge Hall (they
have all stayed there also) so we do have some photos and history of the
Hall>  Several years ago, My grandmother gave some friends of mine in Canada
a photo of the Hall from which they had a watercolour painted...they
treasure it.

Thanks for adding to our knowledge of the Hall, I will watch the website
regularly
